Before I start researching what kind of chopper i would want to convert a sportster into… does anybody know where i could go in NY where to get started with learning someone could teach me how to convert a motorcycle into a chopper? Somewhere in New York, closer to the city…

I have a feeling it would be pretty embarrassing hiring someone else to do it for me, and I don’t know where I would even go for that.

The problem is I don’t know how to weld and I don’t know much about motorcycles yet… but I have always wanted to ride a chopper. 💀💀💀 Shit post but hey some people just have their older brother or boyfriend do it for the lol

I’m assuming you already ride? Get out in the motorcycling community and talk to people. Go to bike shows + runs. See something you like? Ask people how they did it or who did the work for them. Usually there’s a handful of guys in an area doing most of the work for everybody else, you wanna meet those guys. Hang around with those people that have the knowledge if they are willing to teach you.

People you see who build choppers have spent years building skills in mechanics, metal fabrication (welding, machining) paint/autobody. While nobody’s an expert at everything, they usually trade skills with people that know how to do what they can’t.

And “…some people just have their older brother or boyfriend do it lol.” ? No, most people learn how to do it or pay somebody else to.
