I’m currently looking to buy my first car (was leasing before) and was thinking of going for a used BMW. I know the pitfalls - and I’m planning on doing my due diligence when buying, full pre-purchase inspection at a shop, clean carfax, single owner, excellent service record etc. Also I’m not a car mechanic, but I’ve always done all the car work on the previous cars I had myself, have plenty of tools, a laptop scan tool etc and have no issues doing basic to moderate work myself if the need comes to it, on top of that I have about an extra $5k that I have set aside in case things really go south (but hopefully they won’t). So what that in mind, does anyone have any advice on the models/years I should be looking at, and things I should really look out for during the purchase that I haven’t already mentioned? Any advice would be appreciated - even if it’s a “don’t do it”. Thanks.
