If this was decent research, it would be in a journal, not “published” by the IFS.

    But here’s the obvious ones:

Having a “high quality relationship with spouse” is shown to be more important as a factor in their results than ANY other factor, including political leaning. The next closest is “agree that needs were met in own childhood”

They SAY they’ve accounted for a bunch of variables, with no mention of how. Let alone “authoritative” parenting styles is absolutely going to negatively correlate with the mental health risk measure of “going to a psych”

Their index of mental health only 9 questions, 5 asking the parent how their kid is doing, 4 asking the kids. That’s not at all sufficient to determine whether something is a mental health risk.

Apparently “I apologise if I act unfairly or too harshly” is bad for kids mental health too. And “Considering my Childs preferences before making decisions that affect them” has no effect.

They only got responses from half the parents about them self selecting their own political leaning. That leaves so much room for error and especially when they haven’t included the counts for their tables, with 45% of the respondents not being included in the political ideology question, it absolutely should not be the takeaway from this.

Use good research to make points, not weak shit like this. Can’t convince anyone about the science of politics if you only cite bad research.
