Whining transmission

2008 Accord auto. when vehicle is cold it does not make any noises, but when warmed up the transmission whined. Checked it when the noise first started and it was low on fluid. refilled it, ran it thru gears manually, and the noise is still continuing and getting worse. checked fluid when transmission was warm, on a flat surface in neutral. what could be my issue?
