As the title states, what vehicle are you a huge fan of but would never want to deal with the ownership experience?

For me, I think all the early 1900’s high-end luxury cars are awesome. Rolling around in a 1920s Rolls Royce or Duesenberg would give you instant Batman or Bond Villian energy and I think that’s awesome. However, knowing that parts don’t exist for those cars, and the mechanical upkeep that needs to be done just to drive them would be financial suicide.

Any McLaren. They’re my favorite cars aesthetically-speaking and their performance is insane. However, all the horror stories of ownership makes me want to just rent them for track experiences and not actually buy them (not that I’d be able to afford one anyway).

I would happily own a car from the 20s. Parts aren’t available, but for not much money I can buy a mill and a lathe and fabricobble together whatever I need. They’re not complicated to work on.

Funny, for me the answer is late 1900s high end luxury cars.

Arnage T Red Label, C43 or C55, M5, etc. I just can’t imagine I’ll ever be in a spot where the price vs maintenance costs vs enjoyability factor will ever make sense. In other words, I could buy one now, but maintenance scares me and I can’t imagine driving it enough to justify the initial of ownership.

Tough choice between a cramped w12 VW Phaeton or a really angry Dorito in a RX7. But that’s on the affordable side

If we’re talking any car I would absolutely kill for a Lancia Stratos or a Ford RS200

BMW M3 or M4. I would actually prefer either the V8 E92 M3, or even further back, the E46 M3. Getting more rare in both instances. A modern M3 or M4 would also fit my budget, but man, I’m just not sure about the long-term ownership on those cars.

An M2 however, at a slightly lower upfront cost and just cool as hell, could swing the long-term ownership concerns out of mind. I can see myself spending for that car, but not the M3 or M4.
