I bought a Microcenter CPU/Motherboard/RAM bundle that came with a MSI B650 board, 32gb of GSKILL 6000mhz CAS 36 ram, and a Ryzen 7700x for 400$. For 450, they had a Asus board/13700k/32gb of ram combo.

I mostly use the computer for gaming. Should I have got the I7 instead?

no, 7700x gives you future upgrade-ability, and has a very close single core performance to intel’s cpu, and since you will use it for gaming it won’t really be much of a difference, and the additional cores won’t actually matter.

Also, 13700k is a heater and draws more power.
