We just got a 2024 Camry SE. Everything is great about the car so far except for one thing: The auto high beams don’t always turn off when there’s an oncoming car a couple of lanes over. Is that normal? No one has flashed their lights at me yet, but it seems like they should shut off when there’s any approaching traffic nearby.

Thanks!

I like pretty much all the tech features on my Camry except auto high beams. They are too slow to turn off and lights these days are exceptionally bright.

Not an expert in Toyota auto high beams, but my ford escape will only shut them off if there’s a car being affected by your high beams. Sometimes on wide enough highways I find the margin of error to be a little close but if they’re not in front of you they wouldn’t be blinded

It’s normal. My '23 Rav4 is the same way. The opposing vehicle is just over too far over, for the sensor to see. It also does it going around a turn. It’s my biggest gripe with the Auto Highs. They worked so much better in my '17 Rav4, because you could still manually turn them off, while in Auto Mode, without turning Auto Mode off.
