Good Morning, I have a 2016 Honda Accord V6 and I went to Valvoline to have my coolant flushed. I was hesitant on going there but 1. I was lazy in doing it myself, 2. I needed to have it done and couldn’t really wait for the Type 2 fluid to arrive.

Anyways, I go to Valvoline and they did the flush and coolant add, however, what is weird is when I start my car, the car thermostat does not rise until I accelerate my car. Also, I noticed my heater does not come on until I accelerate as well. I get cool air blowing until I press on the pedal, and then I get a full heatwave.

That said, my question is what seems to be the issue? I know the first issue is going to Valvoline, and should’ve waited and done it myself, but I was a little desperate. Mind you everything was working fine before going there, even with a dirty low coolant level.

I’m thinking about doing my own coolant flush now. I just ordered the parts and hopefully I get it done this weekend. Would I need to flush the radiator and tank with distilled water to get Valvoline coolant out? Not sure what kind of coolant they used, but it definitely doesn’t look like the “blue” fluid that is used for Hondas.

Thanks!

Coolant level is low, needs topping off. It can be hard to get all of the air out of cooling systems the first try, sometimes it needs to heat cycle where it expands and contracts, sucking in the fluid in the reservoir.
