    They never followed the market trend. Right now the most popular trend is small cross over / suv’s… Tiguan second gen should been offered as hybrid from get go to compete with RAV4 that still have 10 month wait list. Even Honda sat and watched until finally offering CRV with hybrid.

      This! It looks like VW spent too much time on /r/electricvehicles and skipped hybrids altogether (“innovate or die. Toyota = Kodak bla bla”) and went with electric cars. With no hybrid in their lineup, they are doomed. Nobody wants to drive a non-hybrid car anymore, unless it’s a sports car or a truck. And few people want to drive the ID.4 that costs $50k and is famous for its glitchy software and touch-buttons.

      I was crosshopping the Rav4, CRX and Tiguan. I would’ve gone with the Tiguan if it was hybrid. But not only Tiguan is not hybrid, it’s current engine is so shitty (very underpowered, very low fuel economy, paired to jerky transmission) that I can only advise against it. DO NOT BUY THE TIGUAN. You will regret it.
