I have a 2012 b8.5 3.0TDI Audi a4. Get the alternator not charging notice on dash Test and it’s 11V so yes not charging. Sometimes I’ll test it and it’ll be 13-14V and not showing fault. Seems like it’ll run well for 20 mins then restart and no good for the rest of the day. The battery seems good, no issues starting or using stop start before hand.

A dying alternator may sometimes work and sometimes not. I had an alternator that would only charge when load was on but would be sitting at 12.4volts without load. Replaced the alternator and now charges properly. That was on a 2009 Audi a6.
