They could demand more margin for it by making it silly fun with things like the removable top, crab walk, etc. boutique chicken first to make high volume models more cost effective later
It was a low volume practice run. It was never made to sell in high volumes. Build the first gen of that new aluminum monocoque chassis, motors, inverters, battery, get it out there to see how it handles the real world. Then they can focus on building a 400,000 truck a year production line.
Taking a risk on their golden goose trucks had to wait so that the fools buying the hummer can deal with the teething issues.
And the spec changes show with the new truck. 30% more range is a huge leap.
There’s one in my town. It drove past my while I was cycling on the shoulder. Scared the bejeezus out of me because they absolutely did not give me a safe amount of space. That thing is fucking huge (as are all the other monster trucks people drive around here)
I’ve seen quite a few around here.
Problem is that dealerships have the used trucks sitting on the lot for 127k and a new Suv at the dealership down the road for 80k.
I see a ton of Teslas and many Rivians on the road, but I’ve never seen a Hummer EV. I can’t imagine they’re selling well.
GM delivered two Hummer pickups in Q1 of 2023. One of them went to Munro and associates to be stripped apart, so only one ended up on the road.
Wasn’t that the one where the dude jumped an embankment and the front axle collapsed?
They were on a recall hold for most of that
The article says that made over 11k total now
That’s certainly one way to interpret hummers selling for 100k over msrp…
Where do you live? I’ve seen 3 in my city in Indiana.
I know a guy who owns two himself. Fun ride.
I saw one last month plugged in to an EA station and into idle fees. Driver nowhere to be seen.
Me and my wife cannot understand why GM started with the hummer instead of a Tahoe/Suburban and Silverado/Sierra.
I believe it was a proof of concept. The Silverado EV, Sierra EV, and Escalade IQ are all coming out soon(ish)

We have one in the Richmond area. Can you say overcompensation for lacking certain body parts?
It depends where you live. One of my neighbors owns a Hummer EV SUV and my local dealer has a used Hummer EV for sale at wayyy over MSRP.
