Hi all - I’m new to car ownership after decades of living around great public transit and trying to figure out the ropes. I bought a certified pre-owned 2021 Prius in June of this year which, as I understand it, came with ToyotaCare.

Almost exactly six months and many weekend trips later, I’ve put 7800 miles on it. I’ve made an appointment at a dealership this weekend for routine maintenance. Given that I’ve already passed 5k miles but haven’t hit 10k, what should I expect? Will they provide an oil change (10k service) or just fluids and tire rotations (5k service)? Should I wait until I’m closer to 10k so that my last visit can happen as close to end-of-service as possible? Have I already jeopardized my warranty coverage by driving over 5k miles?

I was intimidated by this whole process, but I’ll be better about getting to the dealership on time in the future, I swear!

You can have them do the oil change whenever you want. You only get two free changes though, but there is an expiration date - I believe two years.
