I’d love to buy a BEV, hopefully with a range of 400 miles or more, ideally, a small car, on the less expensive side. Anyone know of new car models that will be released in the next couple years?

The Chevy Bolt looks great, but range is a bit low, and I heard they’ve discontinued it. The Hyundai Ioniq 6 also looks good to me, but a bit pricey.

Yes, there will be lots of new EVs joining the market in the next couple of years.

There are very few cars that will have 400 miles of range and I don’t believe there are any that will be cheaper than the Ioniq 6.

The problem is that even the most efficient power train that exists today would require around 100kWh of batteries to travel 400 miles. 100kWh of batteries are expensive and heavy, and a heavier battery lowers the efficiency of the vehicle. It’s not unlike the rocket equations, but less severe.

The problem is range v. Price. More range = more battery = more price.

Me personally, 300 miles is the sweet spot, tons of options.

The question for you, is the difference between 300 and 400 miles worth $10-15k?
