I’m still fairly new in the equipment field and have been acquiring more tools and I just ran into a good deal on a 1" impact, but I’m not sure how often I’d really need it I’ve only really used them on track pads and on some paving equipment, so would it be worth jumping on or funneling the money elsewhere it’s a Mac AWD099 for $350 msrp 1250, I work at a cat dealer if that helps

My shop has 3/4-1" guns that we can sign out if we need em. Anything larger than 1-1/4" for wrenches or sockets too. But I work in a union transit shop we “have it good” from what my classmates told me during my apprenticeship. Unsure if that’s the case everywhere or they expect you to have your own? I’ve only busted out the 1" on really stuck wheel nuts or diff pinion nuts (removal) 90+% of the time a 3/4 gun gets it done.

I’ve never touched one. I rock a 1/2” gun on the truck, and we’ve got a 3/4” gun in the shop I can get if I need, but it’s rare.

Talk to your lead mechanic. When we were NON union (long story) I made sure I spoke with the district service manager and had these supplied along with many other specific tools. Only time we really used them was on truck lugs and way larger equipment. We did occasionally need to do repairs ourselves tho working late to get stuff out on time so they were well justified but not on a personal basis
