Looking for some advice on what kind of SUV to purchase for someone that is somewhat mechanically inclined. Basically looking for the most reliable option in terms of avoiding major engine & transmission failures. I’ve done a variety of different jobs on cars and motorcycles and can take care of all basic maintenance such as brakes, fluids, shocks, tie rods, etc. What’s the best bang for my buck long term with a budget of $25k?

Toyota or Honda would be best but $25k means getting something old.

2023 Kia carnival minivan seats 8, starts at $33K and has a 10 year 100k mile powertrain warranty.

    Minivan.

If you really need 3 rows, a minivan is far superior in every single way to a 3 row SUV.
