I was an android person for over a decade. Until Android decided to become a shittier version of Apple. Samsung lost me with the stupid Bixby button that they wouldn’t let you remap (So much for vaunted Android customization). Android lost me overall with the Pixel and then OnePlus 8 with its stupid (curved) display that just created two vertical light bars on your screen. Once Android made rooting and LineageOS effectively useless due to Safety Net, I bailed.
I finally switched when an Apple 12 Pro Max was cheaper than the equivalent Android flagship. I have some annoyances with Apple and IOS, but they aren’t as bad as Android.
I miss the Bixby button actually, no official remapping but a $3 app worked flawlessly for me. Having an extra button that you could map however you liked was nice.
I’ve been out of the loop for at least 5 years now, what happened to Android that I can look into? I was considering going back to Android for my next phone, but it sounds like I missed quite a bit.
This and the Apple silicon breakthrough. It’s no wonder Apple is so dominant. Google really needs to invest in hardware to match their software to pull people back. I want to go back but they need to offer better value for money products.
