2007 Honda Accord EX-L 2.4L 107k miles I took my car to the shop they said the rack and pinion was leaking. The picture they showed was just it being wet. No fluid leaks onto the ground and no level drops after a month of driving. It’s a $1200 fix so I wanna hold off on it for now.
They didn’t want to do a fluid flush because it could make the leak worse but my fluid is old. Dirty brown color. I was thinking of just sucking the fluid out of the reservoir to put new fluid in and doing that a few times. This should be fine compared to a flush, yea?

yeah, that will replace some old fluid. Won’t do anything for the leak. But if it makes you feel better, there’s no downside to what you’re suggesting
You should replace the rack asap, unless you have a good life insurance policy.
I only planned to hold off on it for a month or two. And I keep an eye on the fluid levels to keep an eye if the leaking has gotten worse. So far no noticeable drops in level since I’ve been aware of it
