Hi, everyone! My husband owns a 1990 Chevy C1500 and just recently replaced his motor with a 1972 383 stroker. He’s tried everything but it won’t idle. As soon as he touches the gas pedal, it kills it. ANY ideas would be helpful. It’s been a year sharing one vehicle.

We can’t help with engine swaps. You have to have it looked at in person. Too many differences between the engine the car was designed for and the car it’s in.

He needs an actual swap expert, not us.

A great deal more information is needed. Did he swap out the TBI for a carb, or worse, TPI? Is he using a mechanical fuel pump instead of the factory electric? Holley, Quadrajet, or other carb? There are 150 more questions to be answered before you can be steered in any sensible direction.

When he does get it sorted, he’s going to love it.
