Has anyone run a test using 5W30 in place of water? (0W16)
Kinematic Viscosity 5W30 is 10.3 @ 100 degrees C.
Kinematic Viscosity 0W16 is 7.6 @ 100 degrees C.
So about 30% difference.
The new water oils is a conspiracy for two reasons:
Better fuel mileage required to meet the EPA standard.
Wears out your engine much faster, thus you buy a new car.
Has anyone performed an oil analysis to compare how running 5W30 turns out?
And no it will not destroy your engine. Doing 10K Mile oil changes will destroy your engine.
If there is no one brave enough to try this, my next car will be a brand new Camry (in a few years). I will take the risk for this community and run 5W30 as soon as I get home from the dealer. I will document all my oil changes and see how long the engine lasts. By the way I change my oil every 4000 Miles.
As for you keyboard warrior engineers and mechanics that seem to know everything. The smaller oil rings in modern car pistons will still pass 5W30 with ease. Oil pressure is at around 50 PSI it will go through anything.
Just to let you know! If you document that you use the incorrect oil in the engine and cause premature issues Toyota will not repair or replace your engine or fail components meaning they will void your powertrain warranty. The reason why most manufacturers are going to thinner oil is because of clearance. For oil engine failure Toyota does an oil analysis before fixing. You do you not because it’s a Toyota it will last forever just by putting any oil inside of it, I’m pretty sure Toyota engineers did hours of research and development into that engine for that oil read your owners manual before putting 5w30 inside the engine. I change my oil every 5k miles I’m oil school and remember oil is cheap engine is not. Everyone driving habits is different you many can pay 20k for a new or rebuild engine 4-8 years from now but I know I can’t so I’m doing 5k miles oil change. These new engines are not like the old ones they will blow a hole in their block due to improper maintenance that was told to me by my local dealer and yes it does cost almost 20k the customer has to pay for that engine also a YouTube the car care nut also say the same thing about oil for Toyota new engine
Exact same engines in the middle east spec 10W30 and 5W30.
Car care Nut is a moron, he hammers ball bearings when installing the spider into the CV Axle. A violation in any industry.
Your same dealer tells people it’s ok to do 10-15K mile oil changes.
You do you bro.
