I would not trust ANY of those super fast SSDs, be it NMVE or external SSDs with Gen 4 speeds, that offer write speeds of over 2000MB/s, which nowadays are almost all new models.
They tend to overheat and die miserably without warning.
Gen 3 in my experience seems to be more reliable and they also run cooler.
