The op should re-phrase the question , the question he asked was which MacBook has the best speakers and battery yet people are recommending which they think will suit the ops needs best. Does he need a MacBook Pro. Probably not. But does the MacBook Pro have better speakers than the air. Absolutely.
Questions like this are a bit useless without context and an idea about what sort of budget they have. It’s like asking which car is the fastest and has the best mpg.

Best for battery and speakers is the 16", no question. But, if you’re watching alone maybe you could get a cheaper 13" or 15" Air and a nice pair of headphones?

My experience with iPad is much better with media consumption and surfing. Apps on the iPad are much better optimized (cause they can cache a lot) for better streaming.

Just a thought, if these are the only use cases.

Absolute overkill for movies and web browsing. You can buy a 4K projector AND a soundbar AND an iPad for that $$ :)

16 with the slowest/oldest m processor you can find. But AirPods Pro will always sound better, or Max’s

For your use case, definitely an iPad Pro. If you want a computer then yeah M1 air is best bank for bucks. But surfing with video experience, definitely iPad Pro. You get more contrast, excellent quad speakers etc

People recommend such bullshit you would think they are being paid.

Get the m1 air, it’s good, it’s cheap, and it has great battery life and speakers. Sure an m2 is better but it’s also more expensive, get the m1 air, 8gb don’t listen to shills telling you to get 16gb it’s a trap, just get the base model you will love it.

Lol, how is telling people to get 16GB of RAM shilling? Sure, in his use case 8GB should be enough but investing a bit more in 16GB will only bring benefits in the long term. I have a 16GB M2 and it uses up to 11GB of RAM with 2 tabs of Safari, Spotify and Obsidian open.

MacOS doesn’t use RAM as windows does, the more you have, the more that’ll be used. In MacOS unused RAM is wasted ram, you’ll be using more with 16GB as a buffer and with caching, an 8GB M1 Air is a perfect spec, still can do video and photo editing with it too.

I use the M1 air with 8GB RAM and 512GB hd for software development and two Citrix machines running, no issues with performance

Unfortunately, if you want to watch HDR contents, you need MacBook Pro. I would rather grab a iPad Pro with AirPod Pro or Max. For example, Netflix don’t offer MacOS app and I could not download contents for flights. Where I could download contents to my iPad Netflix App.

For your use case, a 15 inch m2 MacBook Air would be nice. It has great battery life, and the speakers are better than the 13 inch version. It’s also meant for more casual/lighter use cases

It’s still a good option, but if you’re looking for the best speakers and battery in a device that is aimed at casual users, the 15 inch m2 air is the way to go

Why are you trolling in a Mac group? A Mac is a GREAT investment which will last for YEARS unlike any Windows laptop.
