Hi all,
My car (250k miles) has been having performance issues over the last 5-10k miles. The thing will run like it was the dead of winter and I never warmed it up, even when it was warm outside; I get gas and acceleration, but it sounds like it’s running hard and loud, especially in lower gears. Funny thing is that sometimes I’ll start my car and it’s gorgeous the whole trip. Next time I start it? Loud and sputtering the entire time. But I always am able to drive. Just a horrid sound and slower acceleration when it’s decided to have a rough trip.
My family thinks O2 sensors, bringing me to my first question: how many O2 sensors are in the 2003 Camry 2.4 L 4-Cyl LE? I’m seeing 2 (long top of engine, short under the engine); however, some sites say there’s a 3rd under the body of the car? I couldn’t see anything when I got under there. Neither could my father.
My second question is: does anyone know a decent place to get aftermarket replacements? I’ve tried three times and gotten cords that were (1) too short, or (2) not the right connectors. It’s infuriating.
And lastly, does anyone have any different suggestions? Recognize the problem from your own experiences? I hope I’m explaining it alright. I can try a video if needed, but the audio didn’t seem to come through on my first attempt.
Thanks guys! I just want to make it to 300k, so any advice is greatly appreciated.
