2007 Ford Taurus 3.0 Vulcan
My car has the P0174 code. I performed a smoke test to look for vacuum leaks. My EGR valve has smoke emitting from the small vent holes. My understanding is that my EGR valve’s diaphragm is damaged. Is this a correct assumption? Thank you in advance.

Most likely. A simple vacuum test will verify it. For that just stick a vacuum line on it and apply vacuum and then block the line and see if it holds.
That is correct. You can also(as a second test) apply a vacuum to the valve and see if it leaks down. I’m sure it will.
