Per subreddit rules about video posts, you’ll have to search for the video on YouTube. I watched the video which was 9 hours after posting.
The experiment was done in California using a light draft horse with help from Motivo. They modified a car so the horse can pull a rope connected to wheels sitting on a dyno. Comes out a horse makes ~5.7 horsepower for the specific type of horse they had.
Anyone got the paper link? IF they’ve released it, that is.

When I saw the video in my feed I immediately questioned how Mythbusters never did anything with that.
In the video he meets with Adam Savage and he says the same thing. Adam said it’s right up Mythbusters alley
Are their videos still ad infested? Had to unsubscribe because I was getting really tired of the constant shameless plugs plus ads in the middle of the videos
Interesting, they’re actually one of the ones that annoy me the least, since they add the progress bar at the bottom, making it super easy to skip the ad portion.
But yeah, like the other person said, Sponsorblock is your friend.
I’ve sustained 1hp (745watts) for like 2 seconds riding my bike, needed an apple after it.
You’re lower displacement than a horse, you must have been revving very high.
I remember reading that the average horse produces 4hp. It was printed in a car magazine in either the 90s or 00s. C&D, R&T, or possibly SCC. Always stuck with me.
If a horse makes more than 2 horsepower , I’m not sure what that says about the horse…
Siamese horse.
Turbo Horse?
Horses these days are just built different.
