I’m asking as it’s my first car and I want to fix it so I can drive it so it doesn’t whine like hell when I drive it
Depending on the actual location of the leak, probably one of the worst vehicle to do them on.
Is it 4 wheel drive? I replaced my power steering lines and it was difficult. I’m fairly good with mechanic work and have replaced other things easily: control arms, struts, water pumps, alternators, etc. But if I ever have to do the power steering lines again on the Trailblazer I’ll take it somewhere and pay them. Is it leaking at the line above the driver side strut tower? I considered getting some swagelok couplers so I could cut out the rusty section.
I think I was supposed to drop the rack to reconnect the power steering lines but I left it in place. The hard part was keeping the cup seals aligned and in place while lining them up with the ports and then pushing in, while trying to start the 8 mm bolt. There is very little space to work unless you drop the rack. Then it was also a pain to run the line over to the power steering pump because I had to remove the air box and washer fluid reservoir so I could get a wrench on the line. The small bolt holding the power steering lines at the bottom of the engine was also awkward and required a knuckle with tape wrapped around it.
