Hello there! I’m not really sure if this is the correct subreddit to ask, but are there any free online resources to learn and gain knowledge on almost everything relating to automobiles? “Everything” may include the basics on the different parts of an automobile, the functions of each part, the mechanism of it and the maintanence of it all. I do realize that hands on experience is required in this industry, but due to various constraints on time and financial capacity I’m afraid that the option is not available to me as of now. The end goal would be to have a thorough understanding on how an automobile functions, and to possibly be able to take on a project of restoring a car in the near future. Thank you all in advance.

There are lots of good online sites to learn. Here’s a list of links. Most are free, some are fee based
There are many good online sources but if you can do it, I would highly recommend finding a person to help with a automotive project or an internship (preferably paid) to learn. This way you will learn hands on and learn a lot more in a shorter time. Not to mention all the tips and tricks.
