Hey guys I’ve got some EBC Red Stuff front and rear pads on the way and was wondering if any of you have experience with them. The stock pads on my M340 are extremely dusty and don’t provide good breaking force, especially for a heavy car with this amount of power. I’m hoping the EBC will solve at least the braking force issue.

As per the rotors, if the dust continues I am considering getting slotted rotors, does anyone have these on their M340? Thanks, the car is great overall but the brakes really leave a lot to be desired. My Dad’s Jeep SRT has a lot more braking force than my M340. Thanks and have a good day.

    Compares a 345mm to a 380mm rotor….

    why no stop more?!?

Lol 🙄 slotted rotors aren’t going to help, and a larger full hat would be better. And you can’t have it both ways; you either get amazing stopping power and decent amount of dust, or mid/mid on both spectrums.

I guess if you go ake’s you can get literally zero dust, but boy are you in for a fun time if they heat up ha.

This seems surprising. While I don’t have a M340i, all BMWs I’ve had in the past have always had great brakes and I’d be suspicious if yours doesn’t. This does come with the complaint about brake dust, but unless you go ceramic won’t improve much with different pads though some might be a tad dustier than others.

Slotted rotors only help mitigate gas build up under constant heavy braking such as on a track, they won’t help with dust during regular driving.

Thanks for the info about the rotors. Yeah I have had a suspicion it’s due to the amount of brake dust. I’ve never had a vehicle accumulate brake dust as bad as this car has. The pads I have on order are Ceramic-Granule so I do hope it eliminates some brake dust!

I get the feeling the braking pedal just isn’t as sharp as you like it and you are mistaking this for a lack of braking performance.

Unless something is broken or you have some real dodgy aftermarket pads, if you slam the brake pedal your car can immediately trigger ABS. It does not lack brake performance.

Maybe what you want is just a pad with more grabby material which will make the brakes feel sharper. Don’t mistake lass grabby brakes for having less performance. Even the most budget of cars can have super sharp braking feel if they have a strong brake booster and grabby pad material.

Although you also want less dust… I don’t think you can have both.

EBC Red will give you less dust than OEM, but from my experience they are not any sharper. They also aren’t any better from a performance standpoint. You might like them for the lower dust though.

If you want sharper pads, Ferodo DS2500 have excellent sharp brake feel. But they dust like a mofo as they’re primarily made to be a performance pad for sports cars that can take some good abuse.
