I’m not the guy you’re replying to, but my experience -

Bought a 2015 F82 in Jan 2020 with 27k miles. Just ticked over 80k. About half of those miles are daily driving, the other half road trips and long distance travel in the western US. I’ve had roughly… 0 actual repair costs thus far. I pre-emptively replaced the stock plastic charge pipes with VRSF aluminum ones when I first bought it. During fitting of those is the only time I’ve thrown a reduced power CEL because I didn’t have em seated correctly. Yet to see the actual scary CEL on her.

Other than that? Regular oil and filter changes ($80-$100), rear diff fluid once ($150ish at the time), a couple of sets of plugs and one set of coils (that I probably could have easily stretched and done plugs once and coils never - they weren’t misfiring or anything and looked pretty okay). The plugs are expensive M plugs - $25/ea. Coils are the same thing found in most other BMW engines of the same era and are not - less than the plugs, $20/ea give or take!

About the most expensive thing so far was just doing rotors all around with the latest pad change. ~$1600 for 4 rotors and 2 pairs of pads.

I expect at some point before 100K, probably soon, I will have to do the valve cover and/or oil filter housing gasket as my first proper repair. Probably around $1000 in parts for the new cover, gaskets, etc

So, I guess in summary - a lot of the consumables are a lot more expensive than they would be on comparable F30. But as far as reliability goes? Have nothing but good things to say about the F8x and the S55

If you want to talk about expensive repairs, I can tell you about my 2013 X6M…
