The USB ports in the center console works to charge my phone, however music/media doesn’t play and when trying to update the firmware, I get the following code (B125287) on USB port missing.

Could a wire be loose at the back of the head unit? If so will it still be charging but not connecting to the head unit?

Is the USB flash drive FAT32 formatted? The system will only recognize FAT32 formatted USB flash drives. If you’re using a Mac, it doesn’t use FAT32 as a default, so you’ll have to specify FAT32 when formatting the flash drive before you load the files onto it.

As far as the phone not playing music when connected via USB, does the phone have music stored locally or is the content being streamed? If there’s no music saved to the phone, the system won’t recognize any playable content.

Yes, it’s FAT32 and reformatted before copying over the update file.

For the media playing off the phone, it’s not locally saved music, it’s streaming service, however the phone itself isn’t even recognized when I go to the source selection on the head unit, only connects via Bluetooth.

I just did the same thing to my 2018 CX-5. Which did not have Android auto or Apple carplay. The upgrade kit I got came with a New Media Hub and new USB cables. So if your OS firmware is below a certain number, I believe 70 something, the update will not work, because you don’t have the right Hardware. So this kit fixed it for me. Infotainment.com

Yea that’s exactly what I’m trying to do, but my OS is 59.xx so I’m trying to update with old hub to 70.cx before installing the new hub/wires, but the old hub won’t recognize any USB.
