A lot of people hate on “NPC” colors like white, black, grey, and I’ve even heard blue.

I think there’s nothing more “NPC” than to pick a different (and sometimes ugly) color just for the sake of being different. It reeks of “I need to feel special”. If you love a specific yellow or green on your car that’s great but if you’re just doing it to avoid having an “NPC” color, you’re the NPC.

I know this post will be unpopular because the r/cars take is “grey bad!” so I expect a lot of downvotes by the “actually my Civic is orange because I’m just so exciting as a person totally not boring!” crowd

I love colorful cars out on the road. I also think colorful cars are a safety feature. I don’t know how many times (especially in winter when it’s gray and overcast) that a lot of grey cars blend in with the surroundings and you can occasionally miss them on the road for a few seconds while driving especially at that 430pm dusk timeframe. But orange, bright blue, purple, red all stand out and catch your attention.

Iirc there’s a study that showed that humans can perceive and react to yellow the quickest, hence why school buses are yellow
