I’m planning on getting either the Polestar 2 or Volvo EX30 next year. Yes, I know they’re very different market segments and price levels. I’ve been focused on and disappointed by the original Polestar 2 for the longest time. Now the 2024 model seems much better. And the new EX30 could well be all I really need.

So with everything else being similar — both excellent in general (I love the styling of either) — it comes down to just these negatives for me, just picking between these compromises:

Polestar 2 has absolutely horrible armrests, center console that hurts my knee, and a higher price. It’s also notorious for malfunctioning TCAM that affects daily use.

EX30 has absolutely horrible center-display-everything and what seems like a floaty ride in the many UK reviews. There seems no firmer sportier version of it. Or will there be? I was hoping they would make a baby Polestar 2.

But again, both are awesome, so I’m just being picky on the worst aspects of each.

Anybody else comparing these two for 2024?

Any other similar EVs coming to California?

Thanks for the solid on the P-2.

The EX30 is very tempting though. But yeah, lack of driver’s instrument cluster and some key hardware controls have been an absolute no for me. Never saw any benefit in Tesla.

Another possibility is the Fisker Pear, but that’s not coming until 2025 or 2026.

Hoping this first-person account and discussion about ELECTRIC VEHICLES — the namesake of the subreddit — doesn’t get stifled in favor of general theory comments on charging and EV news.
