I know there are a lot of questions about charging EV’s. I’m in Australia and will be getting my first EV early next year (BYD Seal). Due to driving around 150kms a day for work, I am going to get a home setup EVSE station. Originally I was going to get the wall mounted type but they aren’t cheap here. Instead I was looking at getting a 32amp outlet installed and then buying a portable charger instead as the cost would be a lot cheaper.
Question is there any difference between using a hardwired wall mounted unit or a portable charger plugged into an outlet? Any pros or cons for either/both? TIA

32A at 240V is plenty of power. You will gain roughly 40-50 km of range per hour of charging.
If you ever plan on charging at other places without a charger (friends/relatives/work/campsites/etc) then a portable charger could be useful.
As others have said:
- Make sure the portable charger can handle that amount of power. If you end up charging at 10A, then you will be getting ~14km of range per hour of charging. This can still work, but is less ideal since your vehicle will need 10+ hours of plug-in time per night.
- Wear on a plug/socket can matter. Also, doing this inside of a garage is less risky than outside exposed to elements.
