Hey, I live in NJ, drive at 2016 Jeep Renegade, with about 105,000 miles. I took it to a mechanic to have the engine checked out.

He said I should get the spark plugs replaced and coolant flushed - with labor and taxes included it would be around $405

Does this seem like a fair price?? Thank you for any advice

It’s a touch high but not crazy. I’d see what other shops are offering. Coolant system flushes and spark plugs are pretty routine maintenance things and some shops will have specials.

Knowing nothing of NJ pricing, sounds a bit high for Indy prices. It’s only a L4, easy as shit to do plugs on. Get quotes from other (reputable) shops, best way to find fair pricing short of someone in NJ chiming in here

    I imagine he’s charging 100% markup on cost - so ~2 gallons of coolant at $17 × 2 and 4x plugs at $40 x 2. Parts/supplies = $74. It looks like he’s charging you 1 hour labor @ 130 per hour each on plugs and coolant. $260.

I think it would be appropriate to charge 0.5 hours labor on the plugs.
