2016 Jeep Renegade sport

I recently ordered a Mopar clutch kit for my Jeep with the friction plate and pressure plate. They machined the flywheel and I paid around $1200 for labor. A few days after the repair was completed, the clutch pedal dropped to the floor.

Do clutch kits typically come with slave cylinders? The kits I have seen online don’t seem to, and it wasn’t mentioned to me at all as a need during the original repair. They said they need to take it apart and check the cylinder now and let me know, so I’m a little worried the labor is going to hit 1200 again.

Any info/advice regarding this situation? Just looking to be informed when we have our follow-up conversation.

You are saying something important in a subtle fashion. I’ve heard mechanics say there it’s a difference when the customer brings in a part and says replace it instead of asking to solve the problem.

When asked to solve a slipping clutch the mechanic recommends the best solution that they can warranty. So they recommend replacing the clutch plus any difficult to replace wear items they would touch while in there.

When you bring a part and ask for them to replace it you provide the warranty. So the mechanic replaced the clutch and calls it fine.

I like to be knowledgeable too. But if I find someone I trust to do a job I let them call the shots.

Just to clarify, they were having trouble sourcing the clutch kit from their regular sources, so I found the Mopar kit online and ordered it in to expedite things a bit, I wasn’t diagnosing and suggesting any fix.
