I might be late to the game on this but did anyone else know they were developed together and that they’re pretty much identical cars? I went to the LA Auto Show this past weekend and after finding out, I compared them back to back and they are indeed the exact same car (except for the front end, mainly the “grill” and headlights). Plus the Subaru comes standard with AWD. But even the interior design is the same.
If you have to get one instead of anything else, just pick the one with a service center than has the equipment to repair them closest to you with the best reviews
If you want a laptop on wheels with poor quality but good range get a Tesla.
If range is not a concern and you want a quality comfortable vehicle get Bz4x or Solterra
And both are mostly considered terrible EVs for the price.
I have the BZ4x as a company car. I didn’t pick it, I didn’t know it existed before they handed me the keys, and I didn’t really know what it cost (still don’t). It works. I don’t love or hate it. It’s not my Audi S4 in driving experience, and it’s not the glitchy piece of shit that my father in law’s Model Y is. It just does it’s stuff and that’s fine.
Yes some people knew that already. Welcome to the club!
Yes, this is known well around these forums. Similarly, they are hated on these forums because they don’t come anywhere near their advertised charging rate and are one of the slowest charging EVs out there.
Combined with the car-may-catch-fire recall, and people don’t like them here.
There are a handful of users here who have them and love them. I do not have one, but have considered, as Subaru in particular is pushing them off the lots at a significantly below MSRP price point, whereas Kias and Ioniqs have the worst dealership experience imaginable for me so far.
But no first hand opinion. Just hopefully this contextualizes your thoughts.
toss this on that heap as well…
It’s honestly amazing how Lexus charges $65k for that car… Embarrassing
Yes, and they are widely regarded to be at the bottom of the pecking order, so you can cross them both off at once
The Subaru Solterra doesn’t even get its own Wikipedia entry, it’s just a sub-heading of the Toyota bZ4X page.
The Toyota bZ4X, also marketed in Japan, US, Canada, Europe, and China as the Subaru Solterra, is a battery electric compact crossover SUV manufactured by Toyota.
Look at offerings from Hyundai/Kia, Tesla or Volkswagen. Chevy Bolt if you’re cheap. The Toyobaru clones are 1 generation behind compliance cars.
The Lexus RZ 450e is also the same car but it has some difference in bodypanels and interior.
Also it comes with the front engine from the FWD in the AWD version so it has some extra power compared to the AWD Toyota and Subi
Yes, we all knew. Apart from those that didn’t and will go make a post in r/todayilearned about it.
Almost everyone who are aware of EV’s or car news knew this already…
