Hi all, was going to change my rear rotors and pads on my 2014 sonata this weekend. Any advice you have to offer? I have watched a bunch of YouTube videos, gotten tools like the caliper piston compressor, but would just like some more advice before I start such a project
Few things to consider: When you compress the caliper, use a bleeder bottle instead of pushing the fluid back into the system. Use silicone paste on slides, not caliper/pad grease. Use pad grease for the contact points on the pads. Clean any rust off of hub surfaces and caliper brackets. Clean rotors with brake cleaner before installing. Make sure wheels are torqued properly to avoid warping rotors. Make sure you top off fluid and pump pedal before driving
I’m no expert but I think you need to adjust/ change the brake fluids as well.
Buy quality parts else you’ll be doing the job twice.
Beside what you saw there also remember you’ll have to get the hand brake checked and adjusted so it won’t be too loose or the brake pads touch the rotor.
