I’m 31, and not the most tech savvy dude out there, I’m seeking advice on what laptop to buy. I am normally a Microsoft OS guy, my budget is $800-$1100. Here are some of the things I care about;

  • I am a gamer, but primarily console, it would be nice to be able to have a decent “gaming” laptop if they are worth it in my price range, this isn’t a deal breaker

-I am also into creating art, touchscreen with the ability to use procreate or some other drawing software would be dope, also not a deal breaker

-I don’t care for apple products

-windows OS preferred

-the ability to go from laptop to tablet is sick

-don’t care about size of screen really, I do like a nice picture though, not into cheaping out on the screen

-don’t care about brand, I’ve had acers, Hewlitt Packards, and compaqs back when those were a thing. Hate my current MacBook pro.

-quality over everything, I just want a good product thats going to last me a while

Any help with this purchase would be super duper appreciated! Much love everyone.

    Just to throw it out there, in the upper end of your price range (over it if you bought everything directly from Framework) would be the Framework laptop 13 inch DIY edition using AMD. That would provide you Windows functionality, high quality parts with the ability to replace (and upgrade!) anything that breaks yourself, and you would learn more about computers since you have a unique lego-building experience of putting the machine together in the first 30 minutes of ownership.

    For light gaming the AMD 7640U processor with 16GB(2x8) of memory would likely be OK.

    It would not have a touchscreen or 2 in 1 functionality though.

    Just throwing it out there since Framework is the antithesis of Apple, you get to have full ownership over your computer and the ability to properly upgrade it with better parts that would enable more gaming functionality in the future.
