Just installed new outer tie rods, and now when steering to the extremes my wheel weights are knocking into them. Does this mean I need to get a different brand of tie rods? They look identical to the pair they replaced, but I’m guessing they might be a few micrometers thicker. I’m due for new tires anyways, can the shop balance them without using the weight that crimp onto the edge of the rim?

What are you driving where your tie rod is even remotely close enough to strike the edge of the rim?
Something sounds off here. The tie rods should never come close to hitting the wheel. Something is really off. And it’s not by a few micrometers.
