Hi, I’m considering going from latest BMW M440i Gran Coupe to Porsche Macan. I’ve driven sporty sedans but after test driving the Macan I was surprised how much I liked it. It felt much closer to a sport sedan than to a large SUV. Was it just the test drive impression or do you share this sentiment?
Also I wanted to ask - is it the right time to buy a new Macan (in terms of the life cycle for this model)? Seems like this platform has been around for a couple of years and there is a new version coming out next year (however EV is not an option for me), some of the tech seems way older then BMW (infotainment, the physical gear shifter etc). I’m not familiar with Porsche and what to expect from LCIs and updates, I would appreciate some feedback.
Thank you!
As owner of a '15 Macan S – yes, this is a good time. Buy a 3 ish year old GTS if you can or a good spec S, save money and enjoy it. Don’t worry about little details re “dated” a Macan is more about the engine and car itself than the tech and gizmos. You want that , stay in BMW or check out Genesis…
I have a 23 GTS bought new. Go for a new gts. You won’t be regret it !!
I own a 2018 Macan base and can attest to it feeling much more sporty than the average SUV. For me, it was the perfect mix of comfort, sportiness, and utility and I can say with confidence that’s it’s the most comfortable SUV I’ve ever driven. I’ve not driven the M440i, but the Macan won out for me compared to all the comparable MB and BMW’s that I drove.
