    Replacing a 120mpg scooter with an e-scooter doesn’t do much, maybe 2x improvement. Replacing a 12mpg truck with a EV is 10x improvement.

    Don’t use “Xs” here to make your point. Both are pretty much the same multiple (X) difference since you’re only replacing the energy source. It’s changing an ICE for electricity from the grid. Doesn’t matter if it’s 5 WHr or 500 KwHrs, the ratio of carbon emissions between an ICE and the grid is the same.

    And actually, if we’re talking some two stroke mopeds/scooters here, then the scooters are going to see the bigger ratio change here because they are a good clip less efficient than four stroke engines.

    So, sure, for a single vehicle the raw emissions will be a larger decrease. But when we’re talking about world emissions we need to know about the number of vehicles and so if we’re seeing way more e-bikes hitting the road than BEVs, the e-bikes can easily be making a larger impact.
