I use my Apple Watch to keep track of my health, and I’ve noticed that it regularly reminds me to stand up. I’m curious if there’s actually scientific support for the idea that standing up regularly improves health.

Are there any studies or research that demonstrate the positive effects of standing up throughout the day? I’m interested in knowing if it’s a factor that can genuinely impact health positively, or if it’s just a nice feature without concrete scientific backing.

If anyone has links to studies or if you’ve personally noticed improvements in health by following these reminders, I would appreciate it if you could share your experiences!

Regardless of what any text about the standing says, you only need to have your watch pointed down for one minute to get the stand credited. That can be standing, or sitting with your wrist dangling. I do the latter when I’ve stood during that hour but while carrying things.
