So I live in an apartment complex currently, and I bought a tune for my audi Q5. I also just bought a battery charger since I don’t want to risk messing up my ECU.

I for some reason figured I’d be able to charge the battery charger, unplug it after some time, then just use it portably. I was wrong. It needs to be plugged in to use.

So if you were in my shoes, where would you flash your ECU? Are there known places that have power outlets near places to park?

If your voltage drops too low while flashing your ecu you can fuck it up - same idea as turning your computer off in the middle of writing data. Wherever you’re writing data can become corrupt

What’s actually recommended is a 12v power source, not a battery charger. Two different things… Charge your brand new battery in your apartment and you’ll be fine to flash. Obviously, disable all your accessories.

IE themselves reccomend a 10A minimum battery charger, not a voltage source (though I’m sure a stable voltage source would work as well). I’m just going with what they recommend.

The main power draw when flashing with the IE tune at least is the fans that come on, apparently. I’d have to remove the corresponding fuse. Could do that, or plug in the battery charger
