Hey guys, I have an order in for a G87 BMW M2 6MT and sports seats. I’m wondering if I should change my choice to the carbon buckets? Unfortunately I cannot buy them seperately, I can only buy them in an M Race Track Package for 10K more which is a bit much. Is it worth it in your guys opinion?

I wouldn’t get the carbon seats even if they were a free option (unless you’re tracking the car a lot, and then there’s better cars for continuous track use).

If the carbon buckets were the standard seat, I would have paid extra for the regular sport seats. Really not a fan of those carbon buckets, as I find them to be pretty uncomfortable, but they aren’t made for fat dudes like me, so your experience may differ. They do look cool though.

Buckets are absolutely useless unless you’re tracking

In the M2/M4 you don’t even see the rear carbon fiber since theyre coupes, so the eye candy isn’t even all that pronounced

The gigantic ball sack squashed square in the middle of the seat is also detrimental to leg space and stretching

Ingress and outgress is a chore and no matter how many people say that you will get used to it, you never will

Are they cool? Yes. Are they functional? If you track, definitely. Are they necessary for a daily driver you maybe bring to a semi amateur track day once every 2 years? Lol fuck no

And unlike the GT4 where not getting the buckets lowers re-sale value, with the M2 it doesn’t matter as much. 90% of Ms I see don’t have them.

If you have a hard on for the carbon you’ll never see just buy m performance or aftermarket rear carbon fiber shells for regular m seats.

Long story short, if you don’t track aggressively and you’re not self conscious about not looking great flexing on instagram, get the normal seats. The amount of copium from people that specc’d them and don’t have the courage to admit they suck is shocking. They suck for daily driving

Depends on the purpose of the car. If you play to daily it and drive it everywhere go with the regular seats, and if you plan on tracking it & less day - day driving go with the Carbon buckets. Honestly the regular sport seats are more comfortable, and if you don’t plan on turning it into even more of a track car it simply isn’t worth it.

It’s a track specific option. Spec’d for street use is a pilot under the influence of BMW’s understanding of consumer psychology and how it can lead to increased profits when a person who doesn’t know any better isn’t about to explain to their ego why the sport seat is the preferred option.

Unless you’re 5’5" or under likely you will not find the carbon bucket seats comfortable.
