Hi,

I was involved in a lowish speed frontal collision which damaged two panels but also bent the front wheel wheel arch back towards the wheel. The gap there was very small and it would make a grinding sound as the wheel rubber against the arch. The plastic was also cracked and a small metal but was poking through one of the cracks. I showed it to my mechanic , who didn’t think there was likely any structural damage, and he used a crowbar to push it back a bit. Now it only makes the rubbing/grinding sound when i turn the wheel all the way to the left. It doesn’t make the sound going forward or right.

My mechanic reckons the car is ok to drive awaiting insurance and repairs, but to drive carefully. I’m in the middle of insurance claim but could be some weeks before the car is assessed and repaired. I’m wondering how much if at all I should be pushing the car, and if I’m risking causing more damage.

Could anyone offer any insights?
