I sold Toyotas for a few years and had a guy come in looking at the Sienna minivan which was about $30K at the time. He showed me an ad for a Dodge Caravan which was like $22K. (Sure, different brand than your question, but I’ll get to the point). I kept explaining that the Sienna was designed to go at least 200K miles. His argument back was the Caravan would go 100K. I pointed out that at 100K miles, Dodge transmissions tended to off themselves at a great cost to the customer.
This kept going back and forth. So I asked what he did for a living. He said he was an electrician. Perfect. I asked what brand of power tools he used and he said DeWalt. I asked why he didn’t just buy Black & Decker when they were half the price?
Toyota’s are DeWalt or better. Hyundai are Black & Decker.
