Useless
Take it to congress to test
Another wonderful product brought to you by Theranos
isn’t there a lady that can smell Parkinson’s?
“ now we can give you horrible news about the addiction you have that there’s no cure for. Start worrying 50% sooner! You’re welcome!”
I’m guessing testing will cost $1000, and insurance won’t cover any part unless you test positive.
Make sure your quality of life subscription plan covers the use of this device to avoid financial and social ruin!
It’s out of pocket only, sorry
🎶 it’d don’t mean crap unless it has known and useful levels of sensitivity and specificity, and you know how to use the results to update your probabilities 🎵
Nope, one doctor at our institute got funding but every professor is laughing at this. Its not working
Smells like Theranos innit
And then what
I didn’t think Parkinson’s had any bio markers?
Clickbaity.
“The device has so far been tested on brain tissue samples from deceased Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s patients, where it proved to be as accurate as state-of-the-art testing techniques. That said, the ultimate goal is for it to detect the biomarkers in live patients’ saliva or urine samples.”
Summary: device based on Covid style testing (saliva) COULD be used in the future to detect proteins that are markers for Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.
It’s currently only effective with brain tissue samples.
This could be great but this sounds like Theranos BS
If they could get it to work on blood or urine that would be amazing. Unfortunately it wouldn’t be able to detect vascular dementia. You still need an MRI for that.
Elizabeth Holmes selling ideas from prison I see.
So for your checkup today we’ll just need a urine sample, blood sample, and uhhh brain tissue. Thanks.
idk I had that covid test swab and I am pretty sure they got out some brain tissue samples
So right now “on the spot” only works if you are dead.
Why not just get a sample of the alive person’s brain and test it? I mean, it would be simple procedure.
So basically “there’s a 60% chance that it’s already raining” but with Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s
I don’t think I would want to know if I had Alzheimers bio markers. Would there be anything I could do about it or just have the knowledge that one day I’ll start forgetting my daughters’ names and eventually completely lose my mind.
Well, exactly. BUT maybe some intervention/prevention could take place
I want to know
I want this. A tricorder for modern life.
