I’m thinking about installing a Viofo A129 Plus duo two channel dash cam with a hardwire kit. The issue is, I regularly leave for 2 - 3 week long trips every 2.5 months. I’m concerned that leaving the car sitting that long will cause the dash cam to drain my battery. The hardwire kit does have a voltage cut off so I’m thinking I’m concerned for nothing.

I was also thinking that I could unplug the power from the dash cam to avoid potentially killing the battery. The car will be garage kept so no need to have the dash cam recording. However, in case I forget to unplug it do yall think the battery will be fine?

Any input would be much appreciated!

If you don’t want the camera on when the car is off (for motion capture or whatever) just hardwire it into something that doesn’t receive power when the car is off.

So a lot of other people have made good suggestions, but if I had a car that I routinely let sit for a couple of weeks at a time I would put a battery maintainer on it for while I was gone. Lots of good cheap ones out there.
