Question for anyone familiar with Honda ignitions. Is drilling necessary to remove the ignition cylinder or can it be removed once turned into accessory position? I’ve seen a few videos but it seems like drilling is only needed if it won’t turn? Thanks (2002 CRV)
There’s a roll pin that can only be removed by drilling a hole, see this yt

While this is true. I have never actually needed to drill it out. Sometimes a bit of drilling will help it get started. Often it’s not even needed. Roll pins are pretty loose. Once you remove the immobilizer key code reader and other parts that are blocking them. Often just keeping pressure on the lock cylinder and tapping will slowly get the roll pin out. Maybe helping with pliers and pick. And this can be done in the car.
Awesome. I’m assuming the cylinder needs to be turned into the accessory position for the roll pin to be accessible, or am I wrong?
