Oh, you have a Raptor? Or a 392 Wrangler? G-Wagon? Cool story bro, GET ACTUAL SNOW TIRES THEN!

I see it all the time. Morons with AWD/4x4 vehicles driving too fast during snow storms and blizzards and many times they end up crashing.

Snow tires will not improve this situation at all, it’s the speeds and actually driving correctly in the snow that is the issue. However having four wheel drive or all wheel drive significantly improves your chances. I have never once purchased snow tires on any of my vehicles and I’ve also never lost control unless I have purposely been trying to by driving too fast or recklessly.

4WD with a locked transfer case DOES improve straight line braking in low traction conditions. Diff lockers even more. But yeah… people still need snow tires.

Doesn’t every car have 4-wheel braking? I don’t know of a car with 2 brakes and 4 wheels, unless I’m missing something here.

When it comes to snow/ice, even a Miata with winter tyres will perform better than a truck on summer tyres. You’d think more people would realise that your vehicle is only as good as its connection to the ground
