2019 VW Tiguan stall issue?

My VW Tiguan keeps stalling from reverse to drive. Requiring a manual restart.

It’s a work car so I got a mobile mechanic out to site and he said it’s spark plugs causing it.

Now, I’m fairly mechanical minded and I think he is full of it. Has anyone else actually heard of spark plugs causing a Tiguan to stall, or any car for that matter?

Yeah, if the engine is misfiring. But if it runs smooth and only died when shifting it’s probably something else.
